Alexandra United will travel to take on Garankuwa United in their SAFA Second Division match at the Pilditch Stadium in Pretoria on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 15h00.
Both these sides will head into fixture on the back of indifferent results in their last matches. Alex United were held to a goalless draw by league leaders Vardos FC at home last Saturday whilst Garankuwa suffered at the hands of Highlands Park FC on the same day a few hours later.
Alex will head into this match as overwhelming favourites to claim three points. The men from Pretoria are currently languishing in 16th place on the log standings in the 17 team Gauteng league stream.
They are currently just a point ahead of the Bid Boys – who are Absa Premiership side Bidvest Wits’ feeder team – but they have a game in hand over the Sturrock Park based outfit.
On the other hand for Alex United they will be pushing to finish the weekend in third place. John ‘Shoes’ Mosheou’s charges are currently in fourth place on the log standings with 46 points from 26 league matches. If other results go their way they could displace third positioned African All Stars.
Interestingly enough this match will be played at the Pilditch Stadium which has been in the professional football wilderness for some years, the stadium recently hosted its first top flight match in years when Mamelodi Sundowns hosted Bloemfontein Celtic there in a league match.
